Sometimes You Just Fix It

DeathtoStock_Clementine4

There was a viral video that came out a couple of years ago in which a woman is complaining to her husband about a problem and was upset because he just kept trying to fix the problem instead of listening to her. It would cut to her husband intermittently, and he would exhaustively plead with her to simply fix the problem and that the solution was so obvious. In the middle of the video, we see that she has a nail stuck in her head, and her husband was trying to get her to stop complaining about the pain and simply remove the nail. They go on to argue about the situation and he finally gives in and “listens” to her talk about the problem some more.

Here, you can just watch it for yourself.

This is a bit sexist, pretty funny, and sadly, painfully true.

My husband is a pretty patient man. He has been there for me through now two pregnancies, two c-sections, and 4 ongoing attempts at child-rearing. It has not and is not pretty.

On Saturday, I had a meltdown that I wish I could blame on hormones, but it pretty much only stems from my own impatience and pettiness for my body to get “back to normal.” (2 weeks postpartum/post-op… seems reasonable, right?) Give me a break, feeling comfortable and somewhat attractive in clothes is a big deal! Anyway,  I was complaining that I didn’t have a lot to wear and that I was tired of looking this way and bah blah blah. I cried, you guys. Bryan sat patiently and waited for me to finish blubbering and then calmly responded:

“Ok, lets go get you a couple of things then.”

Like oh ok.

Why do I make things so difficult?

We drove the three minutes it takes to get to Old Navy where they happen to have been running a Mothers’ Day sale with BOGO free t-shirts and 20% off shorts (Which is what I needed the most). I was a happy camper. I feel 100% better knowing that I have a couple of things that actually fit me right now. Just whatever if they will be too big soon. You can take that logic and hit the road, sir. Alls I know is that I have crap to wear now.

Sometimes, the answer really is black and white. Sometimes, we need to shut up, stop talking about the problem, and just freaking fix it.

(Yes, Mom, I know you’ve been telling me this for years.)

Love, Alex

What We’re Wearing Wednesday…with Friends! (Volume 7)

What We're Wearing Wednesday

Last night, we had a staff meeting and editing party for the S&B Crew complete with me screwing up dinner and having to order pizza (don’t worry, I managed not to cry this time) and me getting bored with the editing part and going to do my own thing after the meeting.

We’ve been super busy with shoots lately, which is a huge blessing! We’re loving getting to do lots of shoots every week and getting to work with our team…hence the editing party. I also forced asked them nicely to model for my weekly non-fashion post. They’re pretty stylish if you ask me.

Susie has been wearing new jeans lately (these included), and I told her that they made her look thin and her butt look good. She replied “I know! I got all excited when I tried them on and realized I’m not as fat as I thought I was!” No ma’am, you are not.

I have a little scarf envy over this thing. You do not need another scarf Alex, you do not.

She called these her fake Sperrys…then quickly changed it to ferrys.

I’m pretty sure I’ve worn this shirt for WWWW before, but whatever, man. I can’t be buying a whole new wardrobe for a few months of my life.

We all know how much I love my Big Buddha bow flats. Well, my friend Arden found these on sale in Alabama and snagged them for me! How adorable are these?! The box should have com with built-in lights so when I opened it, the angelic “AAAAH” I heard in my head would have been complete.

What We’re Wearing Wednesday (Volume 6)

What We're Wearing Wednesday

Well, as I stated earlier today, things are a little busy around the Fittin Household today. However, I have had these photos on hand for a few days now and wanted to share what this preggo has been wearing lately. I usually wouldn’t be so excited, except that it’s finally getting cooler which means I can wear my new gear! I think I actually look better in long sleeved maternity clothes, but maybe I’m just not tired of them yet.

Hmmm.

The jeans are Express. Again. Listen, he likes Express clothes and jeans especially and uses award gift cards from work to buy them. So THAT’S why.

I really like these shoes when he wears them. They go with a lot and especially Razorback stuff. Duh.

The jeans are Old Navy (as always) and the top is Motherhood. I have a thing with stripes. Love ’em. Can’t get enough of them. Being that I am normally pretty hippy, I know horizontal stripes aren’t my friends, but I just can’t help myself!

Brown flats from Target. I have had these for like 2 years and STILL haven’t broken them in. They’re so cute but for real, my feet cry a little when my brain sees them and says “Ooooh! I’ve wear these today!”

This was one of those mall kiosk finds by my mom. She knows I love me some Burberry and have no qualms with a good knock-off and bought it for me for Christmas. THANKS MOM!

These earrings are cute and go with soooo much but man, they hurt after 8 hours. One of these days I will learn not to buy heavy earrings.

What We’re Wearing Wednesday (Volume 5)

What We're Wearing Wednesday

Well I would say that it’s that time again, but it was that time again yesterday, and I was a slacker again yesterday. We took the photos, I promise. The part that failed was the part where I put them on the computer, edited them, and took 5 minutes to put them into a blog post.

Oops.

Anyway, yesterday was a catch-up day for us. Meaning we caught up on all the crap we haven’t been doing that we were definitely supposed to be doing this week. The only reason I got out of the house is because my crazy generous, wonderful friend Rachel (check her out on her Etsy shop: One Crafty Foxx!) is helping me design and decorate my nursery and we had to make a hobby-lobby run…and a lunch run.

Bryan, on the other hand, got a much-deserved day at home to recuperate from having a 6″-long needle stuck in his abdomen. Twice. *Shudder.* This is still a testing follow-up from when he was in the hospital in  July. Yeah.

What We’re Wearing Wednesday (Volume 4)

What We're Wearing Wednesday

Are you ready for the most boring WWWW? Ugh.

So I haven’t posted a WWWW in liiiike 2 weeks? Yeah, 2 weeks. Y’all. Coming home from work is so much more overwhelming than I thought it would be. So much free time and like a zillion more things on the to-do list. I think I’ll be writing about it soon. Yep.

Anyway. Today I was in sweats and doing stuff on the computer for our photography company (We have new specials on fall family photos! Hit us up if you’re local!) until well past noon. I had to run some errands after that, which is the only reason I am wearing real clothes in these photos. Errands aren’t good enough to get jewelry out of me though. Sorry, errands.

Bryan

So since Bryan has to have separate work attire like a real adult, I decided to get both of his outfits, which is why this is being posted so late. WARDROBE CHANGE!

I just had to show this off because of how ridiculous it is. I am at that phase of pregnancy where, lest I have my ring cut off in the near future, I just need to take it off until post-Grady. I got this at Walmart for ( bucks and called it a day. STILL MARRIED, MAN.

What We’re Wearing Wednesday (Volume 2)

What We're Wearing Wednesday

Well, another week is upon us. This is actually my last week at work. That’s right, I’m retiring at the ripe old age of 24. Well, until around December 15th that is, I assume I will have my hands full after that.

Take a look at the fly threads we’re rocking today. I’m using this lingo because we tried to look sultry in our poses this week. It did not bode well for us.
